Aurora Fishing Upgrade: Quincy Reservoir Fishing Pier

Though there are many fishing opportunities in and around the Denver Metro area, shoreline access issues arise when water levels drop during the summer and into the fall.

One local reservoir where this was a particular issue is our sister water body, Quincy Reservoir. Since both Quincy and Aurora Reservoirs are used as part of the area’s water supply, by summer the water level typically drops to levels making access difficult to shoreline anglers.

Thankfully, this issue has been addressed via the construction of a new fishing pier at Quincy Reservoir that is over 20 feet longer than others as described in the following video…

Love Your Lake: Quincy Reservoir

Quincy Reservoir is another water body that is part of Aurora’s water supply system offering great fishing opportunities for area anglers. The reservoir can be fished from shore or electric-motor powered boat and holds nice populations of bass, perch, trout along with catfish.

Get Ready For Springtime Smallmouth Bass Action

Longer days and warmer temperatures are the norm this time of year, so it’s time to get ready for springtime smallmouth bass action at Aurora and Qunicy Reservoirs.

Thinking back to the exciting smallmouth catches at Aurora Reservoir last fall that included a record breaking smallie, I am sure nearly every area bass angler is anxious as we are to hit the water and catch some of those quality smallmouths.

Chasing Shallow Water Smallmouth Bass at Aurora Reservoir

Ever have one of those days at Aurora Reservoir when all you seem to be doing is fishing but not a whole lot of catching?

Seems like that was the case for these two anglers last spring while fishing at Aurora! After spotting two smallmouth bass cruising through the reservoir’s shallow water, they just couldn’t entice them into taking their offerings!

Even though the fishing duo didn’t connect with the two cruising smallies, they did manage to get some great video of the bass apparently getting ready to partake in their springtime rituals …

Now that was literally chasing shallow water smallmouth bass wasn’t it :)

Given the apparent size of the two smallmouths and the fact the new Colorado state record fish was harvested ftrom Aurora Reservoir last fall, it’s pretty clear Aurora Reservoir has a great population of smallmouth bass …

Yellow Perch Abound At Aurora Reservoir

A short time ago we brought you an underwater video showing the world of the walleye at Aurora Reservoir but there is more than walleyes lurking beneath its shimmering surface.  The reservoir also supports loads of yellow perch too!

Here is an other underwater video showing numerous perch swimming around the camera lens (along with quite a few crayfish too) …

We also know there are decent populations of smallmouth bass and channel catfish swimming in Aurora Reservoir depths since the new state records for both species were caught during  2010 …

Aurora Reservoir is a fantastic outdoor recreational area owned and operated by the City of Aurora. Given the  close proximity to the Denver Metro area, Aurora, it offers all area outdoor enthusiasts a venue to enjoy the outdoors and visit nature!
